At Relena's mansion,

Hilde walked down to dinner from her room, she and Duo had been invited along with everyone else for a holiday bash. She had said something about actually spending the holidays together without a war. Hilde entered the dining room ,and stopped at the door. She gazed around the room, looking for a certain someone. She saw Trowa and Quatre standing near the long wet bar talking intensely to each other. She swept her eyes around the room again to see Sally and WuFei close and cuddly. She grinned at that sight. Silde watched Dorthey and Catherine at the other end of the bar snatching looks at Trowa and Quatre. Heero was standing near the door watching Relena's every move. The protector to the end. But she didn't see the object of her search. She sighed. What had she been thinking when she fell in love with Duo Maxwell? She almost let her cheerful face fall as she stepped into the door. Destened to be alone, she made her way into the room and all her friends. She took only one step when she felt a warm hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, Hilde!"

She knew that voice. "Duo!"

She turned and looked into those violet eyes that she loved so dearly.

Duo looked back into her bright blue eyes. *God, she is so beautiful! I gotta tell her how I feel before some other guy sweeps her off her feet. I can't let that happen. Relena's wing dings always so many other people around. I will tell her this weekend!* He took her arm and led her to the table. The girls were placed on one side of the table and the guys were across from eavh of them, they could look directly at each other. Relena was at the head of the table , while Heero was at the other end opposite of her. Dinner was uneventful.

After dinner, Relena led them all into a large decorated ballroom. It was dimmly lit and a five peice rock band was warming up on the stage.There several people milling around. Some of the people were dignitarys that Relena had invited because of her stature.Several of them were from the school. Duo and Hilde wandered around the large room greeting people they knew, staying together,until Duo was pulled away from Hilde by some of the older dignitarys. Hilde watched him go and started to wander on her own, until she was cornered by three young men, intent on talking to her.She politly chatted with them, thinking of a way to get away from them. She looked up past them and saw Duo. She looked at him pleading to recue her from these boring young men. Duo grinned and walked over to Hilde and asked her to dance.

He pulled her out onto the floor and said ," little uncomfortable with all those guys hanging on you?" He hid his jealousy easily.

"Actually." She said, looking up at him as they moved easily across the ballroom floor. They were very graceful as they danced. He leaded down to Hilde's ear and whispered , "Let's skip some of this, shall we?"

He pulled her off the ball room floor and to where their coats were.

"Where are we going. Duo?"

"Outside."

He grabbed her hand and pulled her out the door. Once outside, Hilde looked up at the falling snow. She was about to say something when Duo tugged on her hand, pulling her with him.

"Listen! Hilde! Sleigh bells!"

Duo pulled her close to him as she shived.

"Are you cold? Do you want to go back in?"

"No, this is nice."

He looked at her . He wanted to kiss her so bad.

Dou leaned down and picked up some snow. He fashioned it until it was round and smooth. He tossed it at Hilde. It hit her in the chest,taking her by surprise.

"Hey, Hilde! Let's build a snowman.!"

Heero watched Duo and Hilde frolic in the snow. Relena walked up to him and gently touch his arm.

"What do you see, Heero?"

He reached up and took her hand into his.

"Watching those two bakas out there."

"You know we could do that, too."

"In the cold?"
"Yes, we could. You just aren't as romantic as Duo, are you?"

"Hn........" *I'll show you romantic, Relena. No one will ever say I, Heero Yuy,

He walked away from the window dragging Relena with him. He went to the coats and handed her her coat, then he put on his. He then took her arm and they went out the door.

Later on,

Duo pushed Hilde down into the snow and looked into her eyes. She looked back at him. He leaned in and kissed her. At frist , she was surprised, but recovered quickly and kissed him back. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him again.

"Hm......Hilde?"Duo asked as he , nuzzled her neck. He whispered into her ear,"I beleive I am in love with you. Would you be my girl?"

Hilde leaned into his neck and said,"Yes , Duo. I love you, too. Now, let's get of f this wet ground.I'm getting cold."

Duo scrambled to his feet and helped Hilde to her feet.

Duo brushed the snow off Hilde, the n pulled her close to him and lifted her into the air. He swung her around in the air. Every thing was finally falling into place. He should have told her how he felt sooner. His heart was soaring.He looked down into her face. He r nose and cheeks were bright red.

"Come on, Hilde , let's go in."

As one couple retreated to the warm and cosy house , another continued to walk arm and arm.....

Sleigh Ride

This was the last day of Relena's weekend of winter fun as she called it, and tomorrow they would all go back to their homes. It had been so much. Hilde was so happy, Duo had told her he loved her. She was walking on air. She wondered what Relena had planned for today. She looked out the large window in the hall way as she past it. It was snowing again, did it ever stop? She continued down the stairs and almost past the game room, when she heard agitated yelling. She opened the door and poked her head into the room. She was the gundam pilots standing around a racing game. She leaned back against the wall and watched.

Duo was driving, well, until he crashed into a guardrail.

"Ok, Maxwell. You're dead. It’s someone else's turn." WuFei said as he pushed Duo out of the chair. "Besides your girlfriend is here."

"I didn't mean to interrupt you, Duo. I was just passing by and heard all the noise."

"It's cool, Hilde. I've had enough fun with them today, anyway."

He grabbed her arm and led her from the game room. As soon as her got her way from the door , he leaned down and kissed her. He held her close to him and then let her go. Hilde sighed a sigh of happiness.

"So, what to you suppose the former Queen has in store for us today?"

"I don't know, But I bet it will be fun."

Two hours later

Relena called all her quests into the large ballroom from the night before. Heero stood stiffly by her side.

Duo whispered to Hilde," that guy needs to loosen up a little."

Hilde giggled at Duo's remark.

"Hey, everybody. The plan for today is to take a sleigh ride up to our winter lodge. You don't have to take the sleigh ride. There will be limos to take you there.

"What do you think, Duo?" Hidle asked, hoping Duo would go for the sleigh ride. "Should we......?"

"Yeah, what the hell. It'll be fun. I've never been on a sleigh ride. So , let's do it, babe."

When the time came, those who wanted to take the sleigh ride, went out to the front of the mansion. Duo and Hilde went out and picked a sleigh. The diver stepped down and helped Hilde into the sleigh, followed closely by Duo, who was watching the driver carefully. After they were seated, the driver showed them where to place their feet to keep them warm. He tucked the wool blanket around them and asked if they were ready. They nodded and he snapped the reins.

Relena looked at Heero as he sat down next to her. She snuggled close to him and reached for his hand.

"I'd rather have done the limo." He mumbled.

Relena laughed at him. "Consider the reward, my love. Consider the reward."

He leaned over to her and kissed her hard.

The sleigh bells began to ring as all the couples started on their journey. Everyone else waved and yelled. "See you at the lodge!"

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling

The snow was softly falling, as Hilde snuggled up close to Duo. He slipped his arm around her and reached for her hand under the blanket.

Relena was sitting close to Heero, loving the feel of his arm around her. She started to laugh when she heard a tenor voice ring through the woods. Heero shook his head.

"That Duo! He sure makes the best of life, doesn't he?"

Heero looked over at Relena, "Hn......."Heero said as he pondered her words. *Perhapes, she is right.*

They could see the lights of the lodge ahead of them. Duo looked at Hilde and whispered in her ear. She nodded in response. He pulled her close to him. When they arrived, Duo helped Hilde from the sleigh and thanked the driver. They went into the lodge and right to the front desk. Duo asked for the key to his room.

The clerk looked at Hilde and Duo grinned, and said," she's with me."

the clerk nodded, then grinned as they walked away hand in hand, *lucky guy.*

Duo unlocked the door and they went in, dropping winter clothes as they entered.

"Nice room.Let's see what the bedroom looks like, ‘k, Hilde?" He grabbed her hand as he pulled her into the room. He pulled her over to the bed and sat on it. Relena And Heero entered the lodge in time to see two fleeting figures run upstairs. Relena went to the desk and asked the clerk, "Did Duo Maxwell get the key to him room?"

"Yes, he did. He was mumbling something about cleaning up and fun."

"And did he have a young lady with him?"

"Yeah. She had the most extraordinary blue eyes I have ever seen."
Relena smiled. She knew it would be a little while before they would be back down. She took Heero's hand and led him into the large lounge room. It had a crackling fire place in the wall. Several of their friends were already in the room enjoying the fire.

There's a birthday party at the home of Farmer Gray

Relena walked up to Quatre and asked him if he would play a few Christmas song so they all could sing.

As he was running through of the songs, Duo and Hilde came into the room. They were flushed and their hair was wet. Relena grinned at them, and motioned they over to her and Heero's table. Heero glared at them.

Quatre began to play the piano and everyone began to sing along.

After the sing a long was all done , they all sat around and enjoyed the nice spread Relena had arranged for them.

After several hours of visiting and just enjoying them selves they all retired to their rooms for a goodnights sleep. They knew that tomorrow they had to return to their normal lives.......
