Relena, tell us what’s going on!” Heero demanded, his arms folded across his chest. Relena had just led the five pilots into a dark room and closed the door.
Giggling was heard from a corner of the room. All at once the lights came on—green, blue, red and gold. The room was decorated from floor to ceiling. Heero gulped. She had done it this time. Heero turned around to a laughing Duo, who was holding his sides and trying not to fall on the floor.
“Damn you,” Heero muttered. The room was the living room of the house the five pilots had bought together. Heero always knew it was a bad idea to be living with Duo—the other three he could handle, but there were days he wished he had killed him when he had the chance. Duo must have let Relena in when he said he was going back to turn the coffee pot off. Duo didn’t even drink coffee.
The room was completely covered in tinsel, fake snow, Christmas lights and garland. A large tree stood in one corner, with presents underneath.
“Merry Christmas!” Relena shouted. She sure was happy. Quatre smiled at her, blushing a little.
“Merry Christmas, I guess,” he finally said. Relena was puzzled. “What do you mean, ‘I guess?’” Quatre shrugged his shoulders. “Well, I’m more of a Solstice person—I never really have celebrated Christmas. I’m more into the festivals around Solstice.”
Relena gasped. “Oh, I’m sorry. Well then, Happy New Year!” she tried, but Wu-Fei scowled now. “Not my New Year,” he answered. “I celebrate Chinese New Year.”
She now turned to Trowa. He smiled. “Christmas is fine with me.” “Well, at least one of you is happy,” Duo now retorted. He couldn’t believe this kind of response. He had expected some disgruntlement over the decorating, but not over the celebration.
“Heero?” Relena asked him.
Relena slumped down on the couch. “Damn it, I just wanted to cheer everyone up. I didn’t mean to piss people off.”
Duo slumped beside her. “I didn’t know Heero was Jewish either. Guess I should put away the manger scene then.” He got up and began to box up the nativity scene on the dinner table.
Relena finally stood back up. “I’m sorry, everyone. I should have asked. I thought it would be fun to surprise you, and I didn’t think that some people might not celebrate Christmas. I hope you’ll forgive me.”
Quatre, meanwhile, had been eyeing the pile of presents. “Oh, I guess we can forgive you, Relena! I’m sorry we didn’t just say thank-you.”
Wu-Fei rolled his eyes. “Ok, I’m sorry, too. Thank you for doing this. I have never seen lights like this before.
Trowa grinned. “You made egg-nog and didn’t tell us?” He was looking in the fridge at the yummy goodies Relena had baked and spied the egg-nog.
Relena smiled back. “Yes, there’s plenty of egg-nog—” Before she could finish, Quatre, Trowa, Wu-Fei and Duo were pouring glasses.
“I say it’s time to chug!” Duo shouted, and he turned the old stereo on. “Jingle Bells” began to tumble out into the air. Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
“We made it!” Hilde shouted as she walked in, followed by Dorothy, Catherine and Sallie. Soon everyone was downing egg-nog and sitting by the fire, singing songs and laughing.
Everyone except Heero. He was still outside. Relena had avoided going out to see him, but now she felt she must face him. She quickly slipped out of the room to the glass doors and passed through, closing it tight behind her. It was cold outside and she hugged herself.
“Heero, I’m sorry—” she began, but he cut her off. “Look—isn’t it beautiful?” he breathed. She looked out from under the roof and saw that it was snowing. It had been snowing since they got there but she hadn’t noticed. The flakes were large and thick, falling softly. Her cheeks began to turn red from the cold, and she smiled.
“Yes, it’s lovely.”
They watched the snow for a few more minutes as it gathered on the lawn. “You know Relena, I can still get you back if you’re not careful.” She screamed and ran in the door, Heero following right behind with a lump of snow in his hand. They raced inside. Relena crouched to escape Heero’s hand, but he wasn’t aiming for her. Duo got a lump of snow right on his cheek.
“Damn you, Yuy, you’ll get it!” Duo shouted as Relena laughed, but Hilde began to laugh harder. “No, that’s what you think. Look what you two are standing under!” Duo began to roll on the floor now, Hilde trying to hide her roaring outbursts as well.
Heero and Relena looked up and saw the little clump of mistletoe that Duo and Hilde had hung up while they waited outside. Relena blushed and began to back away. “We don’t have to do this—it’s not part of Heero’s tradition,” she stammered.
But to her surprise Heero pulled her back. “This is your punishment now,” he said as his mouth closed on hers. Relena gasped at his maneuver and surrendered.
“Come on, you two!” Hilde shouted, stamping her foot. “Yeah, quit hogging the mistletoe—it’s our turn now!” Duo added.
Finally Heero pulled away from Relena. “Mission accomplished,” he said turning away.
“Happy Solstice, everyone!” Quatre raised his glass. Everyone else raised their glass in the cheer, drinking to the holidays. Then Duo raised his hand.
“I have an important announcement,” he shouted. “Snowball fight is about to commence in five minutes on the front lawn! Everyone is drafted—go go
They all raced outside to gather their ammunition.
THE END AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

He shook his head. “I’m Jewish.” He then walked over to the glass doors that led out to the back porch and stepped through, shutting them behind him.
He turned to her. He still never smiled but tonight there was a glow in his cheeks—maybe from the cold as well. He slowly put an arm around her. “You’ ll freeze out here, without a jacket on,” he informed her. She shrugged. “You’re working just fine.” “Sorry I didn’t tell you I was Jewish. Didn’t think it would matter,” he said. “It doesn’t. I’m sorry I planned a Christmas party.” He looked down through her eyes. “That’s ok. You can just call it a Holiday party instead. Hannukah starts tomorrow at sundown.”
go!!!”
