This is Lily Parmont for “Today’s Entertainment” reporting from the set of Gundam Wing. This exciting series has got everyone talking lately—just who are the actors behind the pilots we love so much? “Today’s Entertainment” takes a look behind the scenes of Gundam Wing.

Lily: So, Harrison Young, how does it feel playing the stern, cold-faced Heero Yuy?
HY: Well, he’s kind of a difficult guy to understand—you have to know his background, the pain he’s been through, how hard he’s fought to get where he is. I like him but the spandex shorts thing has got to go—I’ve been talking with my agent about that but the screenwriters say it’s staying for now.
Lily: Is there any truth to the rumors surrounding you and Rianna Peterson?
HY: It’s strictly a professional relationship.
Lily: One last question, Harrison—we have seen the latest edition of Playgirl and let me be the first to say you are HOT!!! [Lily holds up cover of Playgirl and Harrison flushes].
HY: What? Those pictures were never supposed to get out! I’ll sue!

Lily: Well, we just left a very angry Harrison Young. Now it’s on to Rianna Peterson. Rianna, what can you say about Relena?
RP: She’s really not that bad—she’s naïve, yes, but not as bad as the critics have been saying!
Lily: Rumor has it they may cut you out next season.
RP: That’s a lie—I have a contract!
Lily: What can you say about the onscreen relationship with Heero Yuy?
RP: Well, that’s a secret, but we’ll have to see how it develops and how the writers decide which direction to take it. Lily: Is there any off-screen romance, say, between you and Harrison?
RP: Um, I think so. Of course, you’ll have to ask him to see what his opinion is! [laughs a little].

Lily: So now we’re on to Darren Mitchell’s trailer. [knock-knock]. Darren? Are you home? It’s Lily Parmont from “Today’s Entertainment.”
DM: Um, just a minute—wait a second. Ok, you can come in now.
[Darren’s trailer is a pit—and there are videotapes everywhere].
Lily: Looks like the rumor is true.
DM: What rumor?
Lily: That you do have an extensive porn collection

Lily: Now let us visit Hanna Smith, the talented Hilde on Gundam Wing.
Hanna, how are you today?
HS: Doing great!
Lily: You were a late-season addition to the show, and it looks like the fans absolutely love you! We’ve heard you’ve been written in extensively in the second season.
HS: Yeah, it’s looking really good. I love the show, the guys are great to work with.
Lily: Any rumors to—
HS: No, I’m not seeing anyone on the show [laughs]. You’ll have to try harder, Lily. But have you heard about Darren’s collection?
Lily: Heard about it? We saw it! Caught him in the act of trying to conceal it! [laughter from both Lily and Hanna].

Lily: We now move on to Travis Brown. Travis, how much hair spray do you use?
TB: It’s embarrassing—the hair people have to use a lot of gel and hairspray to keep it in place.
Lily: We heard that at the beginning of the show you originally had a hairpiece until your bangs grew out—is that true?
TB: Sure—you want to see it?
Lily: Definitely. [Travis takes her back to show her the hairpiece he originally wore]
TB: See how they attached it—it looks kind of fake.
Lily: Yeah, it looks like road kill! So, can you tell us, is Catherine Trowa’s sister?
TB: Well, you’ll have to wait and find out. That’s top secret. If I told you I’d have to kill you.

Lily: Cindy Burlington, we just spoke with Travis—is Trowa Catherine’s brother?
CB: I honestly don’t know—the writers haven’t told me. [laughs].
Lily: How much training do you and Travis have to go through to perform the acrobatic stunts you do?
CB: We had a little gymnastic training to begin with, but we also have stunt doubles for a lot of the difficult stuff.
Lily: How’s your knife-throwing?
CB: [laughs] I’m actually pretty good now—want a demonstration?

Lily: We are now standing outside the door of Quintin Robert Whitman’s trailer. [knock-knock].
QRW: What do you want?
Lily: Hi Quintin, it’s Lily from “Today’s Entertainment.” We’re here reporting about the amazing success of Gundam Wing. [Quintin opens the door, wearing silk boxers and a tank-top, puffing on a cigarette]. I’m kind of busy right now, so make it fast.
Lily: What’s it like playing Quatre?
QRB: He’s kind of a prick. He’s a little too sensitive for my liking. I like him much better when he’s in the Wing Zero and goes nuts.
Lily: It sounds like someone else is in your trailer—
[A blond-haired girl steps out, wearing a skimpy little polka-dot dress].
Lily: What luck, we have Deborah Carson here as well!
DC: Hi Lily.
Lily: DC, how do you like being added to the cast of Gundam Wing?
DC: Well, Dorothy is definitely a different role than what I’m used to. She ’s ruthless and heartless.
Lily: Not to mention those freaky eyebrows!
DC: Yeah, I get those applied at the same time they do Travis’ hair.

Lily: William Chung, how has it been working on Gundam Wing?
WC: I really like it. The cast is awesome—the guys are great, we get to do lots of action scenes, and play with really cool toys—it’s every boy’s dream.
Lily: Is it hard to get into the character of Wu-Fei?
WC: It take a little psyching up every morning. Really, once my hair gets pulled back and I’m in costume, I stare at myself in the mirror for about fifteen minutes and get the Wu-Fei attitude.
Lily: What about the criticism from feminist reviewers?
WC: I think their criticism is well-founded, and I’d like to apologize myself, though it’s not my fault. Blame the writers. Actually, I’ve been working on that with my agent about trying to get the scripts changed for next season, so maybe he’ll lighten up a little bit.
Lily: What’s it like playing the loner?
WC: It’s kind of hard because I’m such an extrovert—I’m always the guy at parties and am so outgoing, so to switch gears can be a little difficult at times.

Lily: Now we’re talking with Sarah Potter.
SP: I really like Sallie—she’s a great character to play, but like, sometimes, you know, she can be a little annoying.
Lily: What do you mean?
SP: Like, can’t she ever make a move on the guys? Come on—if you were surrounded by such hot babes as these guys, would you be able to keep your hands off of them?

Lily: Zach Michaels, what’s it like playing the Masked Man?
ZM: [smiles] I like Zechs—he’s got this dark side he’s trying to get rid of but can’t, a past he wants to leave behind but it keeps coming back up on him. He’s a good guy but always ends up on the wrong side of things.
Lily: So, are there any women in your life?
ZM: Not yet.
Lily: Here that, girls—Zach is single and very good-looking.
ZM: Um, Lily, there’s just one problem—I’m not interested in girls.

Lily: Linda Nelson, who plays the fabulous Lucrezia Noin, what’s the on-screen relationship between Noin and Zechs?
LN: Noin totally loves Zechs—it’s pretty obvious. She’s a strong character who has a sense of right and wrong and where she fits in to the whole scheme of things.
Lily: So how’s the off-screen situation?
LN: Me? Oh I’m still single for now.
Lily: Calling all guys—the sexy Linda Nelson is single!
LN: Um, there’s just one problem, Lily—I’m not interested in guys.

Lily: We are now standing outside of the trailer of the incredibly sexy Tyler Keppler. Tyler, are you home?
TK: Yes, welcome, Lily.
Lily: It’s a pleasure being here, Tyler. So how do you like the series so far?
TK: Actually, this is all right. As you know, I used to play Doctor Michael O’Nally on Days of our Lives, until they killed me off. So I took this job for the time being.
Lily: Has sci-fi been very different from soap operas?
TK: Totally. It’s very hard to act in these roles. Treize is a top-notch dignified soldier, so I’ve had to read up on the military and everything to figure out how to play him.
Lily: Any off-screen romance brewing?
TK: Well, just between you and me, I’ve been calling on Linda Nelson for a while, but for some reason she keeps brushing me off.

Lily: And finally, the lovely Laura Underwood. Laura, what’s it like playing the spilt-personalities of Lady Une?
LU: I find her character fascinating. I actually have a degree in psychology so I have studied the subject intensely and I find Lady Une a quite complex person with such a decisive struggle playing out inside of her. The relationship she has with Treize Khushrenanda is also complex, and so I find myself reading long after the cast has gone home on relationships and the dynamics involved…
Lily [interrupting]: We’ve heard a rumor that they might kill off Lady Une, or at least take her out of the show for a while.
LU [gasping]: I have heard no such rumor. Excuse me, but I’ll have to confer with my agent before I can confirm or deny such a report. It would shock me greatly to discover they have killed off such a wonderfully complicated character as Lady Une.

Lily: Well, that’s all the time we have here. Tune in next week when we go behind the scenes of Sailor Moon—who are these girls and what are their relationships?
